Tuesday May 1st, 2007 Jimmy and Amber Akers were given the vision for planting a life-giving church. Through many years of prayer and serving in ministry, God brought clarity to the vision and identified the location. August 2012 They moved north to begin finding a home in York, PA. Daybreak Church launched September 22nd, 2013.
Over the four years of DBC we saw God do miraculous things in and through Daybreak Church. People committed their lives to following Jesus. Marriages that were broken were reconciled. People overcame addictions. Kids heard the gospel and family trees have been changed forever.
DBC hosted outreach events that reached thousands of people in the York community. We collected hundreds of pounds of food and clothes for the York Rescue Mission / Life Path ministries. We installed an air conditioner and sound system at a church in downtown York that were completely depleted of their own resources and we provided gifts for our Salvation Army downtown as they ministered to the needs of families in our community. We helped support, Peter Lowry, one of our members as he went to Louisiana to help flood victims repair their homes.
We gave towards and packed over 30,000 meals for vulnerable children around the world with Willet and Rise Against Hunger and we gave to support missionaries that are making an impact all over the world. Through our partnership and giving to missionaries, Justin and Karena Hanneken and our support of Ends Of The Earth Cycling tours, we have been a part of the tours raising over $443,000 to help reach global youth and help provide resources to help provide clean water, help alleviate hunger, prevention of human trafficking, global youth ministry training, and lives being transformed all over the world.
We trusted Jesus, gave first, spent intentionally and did for one what we wished we could do for all. Since our first month after we launched, we have remained debt free. Since day one DBC wanted to lead the way in generosity and we gave $32,411 to missions.
